FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR’S DESK
Hello, I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.
First off, I would like to thank our Village Council for moving forward with our rate increases. This was a hard decision for them to make but financially they understand that if we don’t do it now the alternative will be an even harder financial burden on our citizens in the near future. Without these increases the state would dictate our rates which would cost us substantially more.
We have many projects that we are looking to get started and accomplished. Within the next 6 months we will be installing a new traffic light which will be the beginning stages of our downtown revitalization.
We are working with Charley Bowman (Consultant) on an economic development plan to help our present industry and hopefully bring some new industry to town as well. WE have an excellent school system, and electric co-op with very competitive rates and excellent public relations, affordable housing and great small town charm. With a little tweaking we need to sell our assets to potential businesses.
Lastly I would like to give praise to our village employees. They do more behind the scenes than most citizens would ever know. Our employees have had only one pay raise in the last six years. The council and I will be having discussions in the near future about potential raises. I believe that if you take care of your employees they will take care of you.
Once again, if anyone would like to contact me, you can either email me at: nladmin@hmcldtd.net or my office phone is: 419-929-3707.
