"NEW LONDON AIRPORT"

A field owned by the E.Biglow Tile Co. is now known as the New London Airport! The Field is used by a number of New Londoners including Gene Funk who donated equipment in putting the field in condition, leveling and smoothing it for landing of airplanes. Others who from time to time have helped are Tony Terner, Vic Bailey and the Clark Brothers.

The field is 1950 feet in length and possibly 150 feet wide. One hanger has been erected and plans have been made for others at some future time. The present hanger just houses one airplane. The field lies parallel to the NYC tracks and runs East and West.

The field has made it possible for quick shipments of parts to New London’s merchants and industry. Ed Turner of the New London Tractor Sales was on hand to pick up some tractor parts just brought in by airplane. As more airplanes are puchased locally the use of the field will increase.

Earl Dear, a salesman and official of the E. Biglow Tile Co. has an airplane and uses the field quite often. The new Airfield is definately a plus for the Village of New London.
