CIC
Fourteen members and guests attended the December 20 Community Improvement Corporation meeting at the Main Street Grill.
Vice-President Steve Von Behren opened the meeting, the secretarys report was approved, and treasurer Theresa Smith reported $1,147.46 in checking, $2,797.06 in savings, $6,132.14 in CDs and $405,864.31 in the Revolving Loan Fund. The club has 50 members and two have already joined for 2006.
Steve reported a committee is working on the school property and anyone interested in this project should contact him. Pat Cassidy said the land should go for at least $20,000 an acre, and we should be flexible about how the land might be used. He reminded members the Revolving Loan Fund is available for a possible source of funding. It was suggested Andy Suvar and/or the firm of Genotta & Herner be consulted.
A discussion took place about the possible role of the CIC in the Hometown Holiday. Kelly Gearhart also suggested we consider doing a coupon book project.
The speakers were Jon Kelley and Marla White from Huron County Job and Family Services. They discussed a new program that pays for ½ of an employees wage during the on-the-job training period. Employers are encouraged to contact them.
