Twelve members
and guests attended the June 21 meeting of the New London
Community Improvement Corporation at the
President Dar Anderson opened the meeting, and the secretarys report was approved. Treasurer Theresa Smith reported $1,826.70 in checking, $2,790.92 in savings, $6,094.06 in CDs and $391,681.63 in the Revolving Loan Fund. She said the club has 49 members.
Murphys
Pharmacy is closing. It has been bought out by Rite-Aid and
Ray Murphy and some of the employees will be working at the
Rite-Aid in
Steve Von Behren said the club brought in $25 selling popcorn and water at the Firemens Convention over the weekend. Many of the local restaurants were left with a lot of extra food and drink because the convention did not bring in as many people as expected, and several vendors from outside the area were selling food. It was suggested the CIC rent space in the NL Record for those businesses who will be running specials to help clean out excess inventory.
Steve said the owner of Precision Trailers, a new business on Rt. 250, was supposed to be the speaker but did not attend the meeting. He may be looking for a permanent location for his business.
